Coming into the summer of 2024, I had the privilege of working with Kym Rohman for the first time on early concepting for the SOJC handbook project I worked on. Kym, who was going into her first year running the UO SOJC's amazing Allen Hall Advertising program, asked me to do some work on their annual campaign with Oregon Basketball to get the ball rolling before their new class of designers and art directors joined the team in the fall.
I worked with the team at Oregon Athletics/Basketball to find their voice: what their goals were, how to create unified messaging between our work and theirs, and understand what they wanted from the design of this campaign while still allowing the AHA team creative freedom once they ended up at the helm. For the project , I:
-Developed early materials, like newsletters and promos for basketball camps, and visuals that ended up displayed to a crowd of >60,000 on the screens at Autzen Stadium.
-Worked with the Oregon Athletics creative team, including at team media days, directing and shooting photo material with the vision of how it could look integrated into AHA's campaign, including taking photos of my own to be used in concept posters
-Created a full style guide to be passed off to AHA's team after this brief stint working on the project, including design specs, rationale, objectives, and a full creative asset package.
The full campaign turned out great-- you can find examples of the finished work on AHA's Instagram page, and I'm sure more will be on their website soon. It was an incredibly unique experience to work on a project, pass it off to a talented team, and then see the final results after the fact with the changes and tweaks they creatively wanted to make. Thanks to everyone involved for the opportunity!
